Arrival in Dubai; welcome, transfer to your hotel

2nd day : Dubai
In the morning, after breakfast, departure for a city tour of Dubai. Dubai is the second largest coastal city of the United Arab Emirates, as for its area, its population and its wealth. The reputation of Dubai started at the beginning of the XIX Th century. This port city started developing to replace Linger, on the Persian coast, as well as Bahrain, thanks to the pearl merchants, on their way to Mumbai. Since then it went on with its commercial expansion and with the help of oil revenues and cheap foreign labor, it became a very modern city-state.
Many skyscrapers, and among them the famous Burj Dubai 681,70 m or the Emirates Towers with its 355 m. Beside this futuristic type of architecture, and with the help of renown architects, the shoreline offers a striking contrast : the dhows and other dinghies sailing across the bay. Then we shall leisurely walk in Deira souk, with its spices, gold and cloths sections … Across the bay we shall visit the Dubai museum and the district of al-Bastakia, with its wind-tower houses, to look back to Dubai traditions and history. Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight at Hotel. (B.L.D)

3rd day : Dubai / Khassab
Breakfast and departure from Khasab to the Musandam peninsula. The population of Kumzar has multiple origins, Persian, Arabic, and Portuguese. Each of them has its own language, distinct from Arabic. This region borders the Ormuz straits and offers wonderful landscapes, with many isolated mountain villages.
A day of sightseeing along Musandam Peninsula, with a cruise on a dhow, along the coast, to sight fishermen’s villages and the cliffs that fall into crystal clear waters., until Ormuz straits, a few kilometers from Iran. Stops - for refreshing swims – on some remote islands. (Picnic lunch). Return along the coast with the company of dolphins that can be seen everywhere. Dinner and overnight. (B.L.D)

4th day : Khassab
Breakfast and departure to visit the old district of Khassab, Portuguese fortress and souk. Lunch in a local restaurant before moving on, to visit Jebel Harim and Khor Najid, wild magnificent landscapes. Back to the hotel in late afternoon. (B.L.D)

5th day : Khassab / Muscat
Free morning. Transfer to Khassab airport, for the flight to Muscat. Lunch on board. Arrival in Muscat. Transfer to the hotel, and departure for a guided city tour of Muscat. Muscat development is the result of successful sea trade in the Indian Ocean, since the 16 Th century. The Portuguese fortress proves it.
Muttrah, the port with its corniche, presents a splendid promenade on the sea front. That is where you can find the nicest souk, that represents the Orient of our dreams. Incense, sandal wood, spices, gold, silver jewels …, but also the Pakistani and Chinese goods. In the ancient district, amble toward the old Muscat, from one fort to the next. (B.D)

6th day : Muscat / Nizwa
Breakfast and Visit the Bît al-Zubaîr museum, then Sultan Qaboos mosque. From Muscat to Nizwa, this region, called Al Jauf, is the site of Dejbel al-Akhdar (the green mountain). In the old days, this road going to Nizwa was the main way to carry goods on dromedaries; it was at the crossroads with caravans from Arabia. All around, there are palm groves, orchards and watchtowers, built on the rocks, to allow sentries to watch out and repeal attacks. As a former capital of the Ibadites Imams, Nizwa is still interesting for its heritage and souk. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B.L.D)

7th day : Nizwa
Breakfast and visit to AI Hamra with its Impressive view, continuation to Al Misfah village. These two villages are among the nicest in Oman. Picnic lunch at Shorfet Al Alamen, before returning to Nizwa via Bahia, Djebel Misht and Ibri. Overnight at hotel. (B.L.D)

8th day : Al Sharqiyah
This region is located betwween Eastern Hajjar and Wahhiba sands. After arriving in Ibra, the most important town in Sharkiyah, built in two sections, the higher and the lower one. It is the site of the Al Harthi tribe, whose members went to settle in East Africa (Zanzibar, in particular) to develop their business ventures. Then via Wahiba desert, large sea of sand-dunes, although with a lot of vegetation, birds … Some Bedouins who make a living raising herds of cattle still, live on its outskirts. Dinner and overnight, in the desert, at Camp. (B.L.D)

9th day : Wahiba Sands / Sur / Ras Al Hadd
Breakfast and departure to Wadi Bani Khaled, and its natural pools. Continuation to Ras al-Hadd via Ras al Jinzz, where most of the green turtles come ashore to nest.
Visit to Sur , dinner and overnight at hotel. (B.L.D)

10th day : Sur / Muscat / Salalah
Breakfast and departure to Wadi Tiwi, then visit to Daiqa canyon with its pools of cristal clear waters : we shall walk through the palm trees and the canyons to choose a waterfall to cool down. Back to Mascat, flight to Salalah, in the Dhofar area . Dinner and overnight at Hotel. (B.L.D)

11th day : Salalah
In the morning we shall visit the small museum that exhibits photos and artifacts from the « desert among the desert» ; then up north, we shall go to the gates of the rough Roub al-Khali desert. A visit to Job’s tomb, worshipped by Christians, Jews and Moslems alike, to have kept his faith in spite of the sufferings inflicted upon him. Lunch in a Bedouin camp, and visit of their village. Proceed to Nagaif with its numerous incense trees, at the origin of the wealth of the region. It may be possible to see how it is produced. Return to Salalah. Dinner in a local Yemenite restaurant. Overnight at Haffa House Hotel. (B.L.D)

12th day : Salalah
In the morning scenic drive to the fishermen’s village of Mirbat, with its white houses in contrast with the blue of its mosque. Visit of the fort, before lunch. Then visit of the ruins of Soumhouram, ancient port that specialized in the incense trade in the bay of Khor Raouri. Retun to Salalah via djebel Samhan. Stop by Tawi Atayr hole, in the Khor Salalah reserve or at Taqah, for bird watching. Dinner and overnight at hotel (B.L.D)

13th day : Salalah / Muscat
Transfer to the airport (B)
